With their sergeant and other NCOs dead, the youngest of the soldiers, Nate Burrows Jr. The OSS agent, knowing that he is near death, asks the soldiers to complete his mission: to find the bomb disable it and extract the scientist developing it, who wishes to defect. They come across an American OSS agent suffering from horrific burn wounds, and learn that the Germans are close to development of a super-bomb which will enable them to turn the tide of war and achieve victory. En route, they stumble across a German experimental site, still smoldering with flames from some devastating event. ![]() After a fierce firefight, the Americans escape and try to make their way back to their own lines to report the German surge. With the Germans apparently near defeat in the latter part of World War II, a squad of American soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Division on a routine mission near Elsenborn in the Belgian Ardennes encounter a surprisingly strong German tank destroyer and infantry force. De Meo would later write Company of Heroes 2. It was loosely based on the video game of the same name. The screenplay was co-written by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo. It's a bit longer than I wanted, but in general, welcome! This is probably the best genre to enter and I kinda envy you right now.Company of Heroes is a 2013 American direct-to-video war thriller film directed by Don Michael Paul. If you beat the PC on a hard difficulty (not necessarily the hardest though-that's just a waste of time, with a cheating PC) and then start, you'll also have your ass handed to you but at least you'll be on a path to learn and improve. If you start with multiplayer right off the bat, you'll get your ass handed to you pretty fast and will likely lose interest. If you're interested, start by having a few rounds against the PC. The pace of multiplayer is significantly faster than single player. So my recommendation is pick one, then if you like it, pick the other.Īs for multiplayer: it takes getting into. All in all, it's better in some regards (such as multiplayer) but worse in others, so it's not a definite "coh2 is worse". COH2 added some improved features, but lost somewhat in tone and feel. Like u/VRichardsen said, COH1 was a huge deal in the RTS world and is probably the best RTS ever, but I don't know if you'll have the appreciation for it (no offense intended). I think if you never played an RTS before, either one will have the same impact on you (either you'll like it or you won't). That's why it can't be considered one of the best RTS games ever and I don't see many people who actually do. It does however lack mechanics and refinements of more hardcore games. Ultimately Company of Heroes is like the Call of Duty of RTS, it does the fundamentals perfectly and is a great entry level game. ![]() If all that isn't enough to sway you, then all I can say is that you need to play it yourself. Supreme Commander is the spiritual sequel to the most influential RTS game ever, Total Annihilation. It got a sequel called 'Forged Alliance' which refined the game, also adding more units and it's still being developed by the community today as 'Forged Alliance Forever'. It also had a forgettable campaign but it's more of an online game, so that doesn't matter too much. It has features that are a given today but were revolutionary at the time. Another issue is that on launch it was one of the most difficult games to run because it was that detailed and ahead of it's time. That's a big turnoff for a lot of players but once you've actually learnt it, it's one of the most rewarding games you can play. The reason you won't see it get the same scores as CoH is because it's a much harder game and doesn't hold your hand. We're talking about thousands of units which can be automated far better than CoH. Supreme Commander does everything better than Company of Heroes and on a far bigger scale.
